Wednesday: Today was super laid back, our car was still in Bowling Green getting fixed so we just chilled at home, slept in, talked to family, fished, and waited. The Franklin Elders came over to hang out before they took us to get our car and guess what was wrong with our car?? There was a gosh dang squirrel nest in it!! Check the pictures below, so crazy, literally no idea how that happened... we drive it daily so no clue when it got in there?? Everyone including our driving coordinator and the mechanics were pretty shocked lol. We got our car and drove home and finished the night with some finding.
Thursday: Today wasn't too bad, we had two Book of Mormon drop offs in the morning, one wasn't home, and the other didn't seem all that crazy interested. He turned down a date to work towards as a goal for baptism, but who knows maybe he'll come around. We went and helped Candice and Booher sisters move into their new house, they got us Costa Vida!! First time having a pork burrito in over 16 months!! We did some finding at home. After we had a lesson with some Spanish elders which was supposed to be half and half but it was all Spanish so I just chilled lol Elder Baker is assigned to Spain so he speaks a little so he joined in at some parts too. It was a decent lesson though! Did some more finding until bed and that was the day!
Friday: Wow today was great!! We knocked out our weekly planning in the morning. We were able to get ahold of Cathy this afternoon and talked a little bit with her about the restoration and repentance and she committed pretty heavily to come to church this Sunday! We had a good call with this guy named Gary who lives in NC that Elder Baker found on Facebook. Then some guy from the other day said he was going to play basketball and jokingly started talking some trash and so he invited us to come play, he and his friends were a little younger than us, we assumed (15), but it was still a way good time and we taught them about the gospel and gave them each Book of Mormon. Then his mom came to pick them up and said she had a feeling we were missionaries when she dropped them off and turns out she's met with missionaries before and has such amazing values. She was super super cool and it totally interested in learning more! They are moving to California soon, but we have them until then and they can always be referred to the missionaries there when they need to be! We got panda on the way home, then did some finding and that finished out the night!
Saturday: Today was good! Had a good morning just having calls with other missionaries and contacting a few other people as well. Had an awesome lesson over the phone with this guy named Gavin teaching the restoration and he was down for a Book of Mormon drop off tomorrow! We went out to knock some people's doors that we have been talking to as well as other we came across in the process and that was pretty fun. We taught a lady named Tracy and her son on the porch and had a really good discussion with them and we are hoping to see them at church tomorrow! Franklin came down for dinner and to switch for our exchange and Elder Pace left his phone here so we'll have to take it to him tomorrow at church lol. Other than that though Elder Hamilton and I had a great time just doing finding work and talked to this super cool couple named Skyler and Chelsea sadly they don't live in Portland, but funny story we were cold calling a number chain so (not actual numbers) but say Skylers number was 615-555-7676 we had an awesome call with what we thought was just him and after we proceeded to call 615-555-7677 and we hear Skyler in the background go That's my wife! So crazy haha, she said she listened to the whole thing and prayed with us so pretty cool we were able to call her right after or we wouldn't have ever known about her!
Sunday: Had a great day at church, going to to Boohers for 4th of July lunch, dropping off a Book of Mormon to Gavin, talking to family, and doing finding work but nothing too crazy happened today! Happy 4th of July!
Monday: Today was good! Got a hair cut in the morning for free from President Alley's daughter and then headed to district council and interviews in Madison. Interviews went well, so did district council! Elder Scott and I went on exchanges right after and so we stayed for another district council because he's a zone leader so we were supporting the other district. We went and visited this ancient inactive member who's non member nephew randomly happened to catch Elder Scott and his companion earlier that week and said his grandma really wanted to talk with us. We had a good conversation with her, but she couldn't hear super well, it was basically just us listening to her stories for a bit haha. We went home and finished the night with some finding.
Tuesday: Today was pretty wild. We did service at the bishop storehouse in the morning, then we had a good companion study and did a little training role play on a zoom call with a few other zones, we went and taught some lessons, one to Angie who we got to use the exact thing we role played from earlier on so that was cool! Then Quinten, who didn't understand too much no matter what we said, then we bumped into Tim who's read the Book of Mormon and believes it's the word of God what?? So cool. Then we met the most tender guy ever named Raymond. He had his leg amputated and his vision wasn't all that great, but he cried the whole lesson everytime we talked about the Savior. He said he knew we were from God and he felt as though he was led to us and we told him we felt the same. To sum it up we put him on date for July 25th, he is such a stud! It was a really spiritual lesson. We went home had dinner, then got packed up. We were about to head home when some sisters called and said they were having a hard time, so they asked for a blessing. They also asked for some stuff from Walmart, so Elder Scott got them some stuff and we went over and and by that time it was 9:45 and we had to still drive to Portland. Needless to say we barely got home by 10:30. We may or may not have also stopped for shakes on the way haha... that's all for today!
