I'm training....kind of?

Wednesday March 24th: Today was super average. Not much went on. We got hair cuts in the morning and then went and walked around that antique shop that we used to go to every now and then a few months ago for those who remember. Then we got cold stone and that pretty much wrapped up pday. Afterwards we had a night of finding with nothing to report on. Crazy to think I'd be headed to Portland tomorrow if it weren't for the positive covid test in the mission.

Thursday: Today was pretty sweet! We drove to Nashville to get Elder Cory, a new missionary, who may or may not be staying with Elder Thacker when I leave. The reason I'm not sure is there are a bunch of new missionaries who are with their "trainers" only temporarily until their real trainers get out of quarantine. So Elder Thacker will be training it's just TBD if it will be Elder Cory or not, but I think it'd be weird if they switched him, but who knows! We got Hattie B's for lunch and then came home and did some finding. We found one guy named Grim, nothing too special to say about that one, just called and shared a bit about the restoration with him and set up a time to call back. We visited an inactive member at night and he was a super nice guy. He just doesn't want to change or have any help changing. He did show us some of his classic cars which was awesome though. I only got a picture with his old Ford that was in pristine condition. After that we did a bit more calling but nothing special.

Friday: Today was good but nothing big. Did weekly planning. Andres from the clothes drive called and said he fully expects to be at church this Sunday, so hyped! Then we found a guy named Zachariah and he wasn't interested in getting himself a Book of Mormon quite yet, but he wants to hear a message tomorrow and potentially come to church. I think he'll be special. That's all for today though.

Saturday: Hate to say it, but today (during the day) was pretty boring. Did a lot of finding and honestly nothing to report on. We had coordination at 8 and THEN at 8:30 we had an INCREDIBLE lesson with Zachariah from yesterday. Oh my gosh, it was literally so good! We talked for a good 10 minutes before and just chatted which I think was really good because then he felt like he really knew us. After that we shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with him and read scriptures from the Book of Mormon about each principle and invited him to be baptized. He accepted immediately and is willing to do whatever it takes. He is so prepared. We set up an in person lesson for next week and I hope I can at least meet him once before heading out. I literally love this guy, and am so happy for him! Sadly he's not in our area, but regardless I'm so glad I was able to play a small part in his story, I hope everything lines up and works out for him!

Sunday: Today was good, we were in church basically from the morning until 4. We attended two wards and also ward council and we had second hour in one of the ward. It was awesome! At night we just did some finding as well as our mission devotional as always which was good. We found a guy named Mike and set up a time for the other elders to drop off a Book of Mormon to him tomorrow, hopefully it happens!

Monday: We had district council virtually because of covid which was super lame! Then literally we just found all day! We found a guy named Cooper. We basically just had a long conversation with him about life and then we had a lesson with Josh, the guy we dropped the Book of Mormon off to, and he basically told us he wasn't interested and hung up, super dumb.

Tuesday: Another day full of finding! We taught a dude named Hakeem who seems super cool. He has a bunch of legitimate concerns which is awesome because we know he actually actively listened and didn't just say uh huh, uh huh, uh huh, the whole time. We set up a time to come drop by and talk with him more in the future! Then later in the day we went to the church and taught our gospel study class on general conference and it went super well, aside from the fact that everyone just called me out for talking to fast like 15 times which is so weird because I've been here for 7 months and no one has said anything before lol, but it's whatever. My mom always says that the Thomas' do everything fast. Looks like it might be genetic;) Afterwards we finished out the night finding at the church and found a girl named Brittany. We talked about the atonement and set up a time to talk more Thursday, she seems legit! That's all.  Still no word on transfers. It looks like I'll be here for conference  and easter weekend which is cool!
