Anyone else procrastinate?
Week 89,90,91,92
First off, sorry everyone for not being very good at my emails/blog posts lately. I promise it's NOT because I don't care and NOT because I have given up and am just majorly trunky. I would be lying if I said I had NO time to do it, but we have just been SO busy, that everytime I do have a free moment, I'd rather rest lol. With that being said instead of the format I've done the last 21 months, I am just going to do weekly highlights from this point forward, who cares what I was eating anyway, right?
Week 89: This week was good! I had the opportunity to do baptismal interviews for 2 kids named Charles and Natalia, they are getting baptized this Sunday and they are really excited! BUT, CRAZIEST THING HAPPENED, our church had a gas leak and in the middle of fast and testimony meeting they had us evacuate and then after some discussion by the leaders, dismissed us and this pushed the kids baptism back a week, but that's okay, it was still insane though! Everyone is alright and it got fixed the next day, so no worries! We also had an exchange with Pikeville. Elder Steiner actually has a home that he will be living in, in red ledges when he goes home, so we will get to hang out, we had a really good time! We did get bashed by Pastor John though hahaha, homie is a nut case, he preaches with a boom box on the corner like every other weekend, and he pulled up next to us and tried to argue about everything under the sun, we wished him well after about 10 mins and walked away, he thinks he's pretty intelligent!
Week 90: to start off on a rough note, Kimberly who we thought had the most strong testimony of the Book of Mormon, and would do anything to be apart of Jesus Christ's church, just could not overcome her word of wisdom issues, actually a better way to say it would be, she could not find the DESIRE to overcome those issues. We knocked on her door after not hearing from her for a few days, which wasn't normal, and she gave us all the books back and said don't come by anymore. We left the books on her porch and after a few more calls, and one more visit, we realized she had made up her mind. That one really broke my heart, she was the best. We had a really good lesson with David, who is a recent convert, teaching him about patriarchal blessings, the spirit was super strong and it reminded me of how important they really are! Go read yours, study it, treasure it, and see what more you can learn and/or change with where you're currently at. We also had a miracle, Camryn, who us Natalia and Charles brother who wasn't planning on getting baptized decided to do it, and so we went over and helped refresh him on some things and prepared him for the interview which he passed. All 3 were baptized Sunday and it was super special. (Camryn wasn't the biggest fan of pictures). I had a really fun exchange with Elder Weber, we taught this one girl named Eliza and put her on date for December 18th. We also just had a good time together, he's a really cool Elder! Lastly we had zone conference in Murfreesboro and I had interviews with President. Both were really good, and it's crazy that I only have 2 more... we also had stake coordination with all the ward and branch leaders and stake Presidency, if any of you are wondering why the heck we were there, it's because as zone leadership we have to give a monthly report on missionary work, it went really good!
Week 91: We had some really great lessons this week! A couple that stood out were Champayne and her family, Eric and Savannah, Wanda, Natasha and her family, and this family I taught on exchanges with Elder Wilstead in Nashville. With Champayne and her family we taught them the gospel of Jesus Christ, we had them write down the 5 principles of the gospel, and then we watched the 2 Nephi 31 Book of Mormon video, and put a mark next to each principle everytime it was said throughout the clip! All 4 of them accepted a baptismal invitation for January 1st 2022, we are excited for them! With Eric and Savannah, early in the week we had a good Bible study with them, then on Monday they were able able get lawfully married, and the next day Eric said he wants to he baptized Friday, so we were like deal, and on Tuesday we had a good lesson answering final questions, prepping him for the baptismal interview, that he decided to do right then and there, and just had us call Elder Collier to do it haha, he passed! We are all set for Friday with him, and hopefully Savannah will follow his example shortly here after! With Wanda we had a great restoration lesson at a coffee shop with Brother Lynn! Then with Natasha, and her kids, we also went over patriarchal blessings and it really inspired Natasha, so we are excited for her, she has changed so much with the gospel, it is incredible! Lastly, as I said I went on exchanges with Elder Wilstead in Nashville, we were able to talk for awhile in the car and find out we knew a lot of similar people, he's actually best friends with this kid who had a thing with my ex girlfriend haha, that was super crazy to find out! More importantly though it was a great exchange, he was super inspiring, loving, and genuine. I learned a lot! We had a really good lesson with this family too, we taught the plan of salvation and the Spirit was so strong, it was a part member family, and it was just the best, it was a super fun time! Sorry, I just keep typing but we also had a really good lesson with this couple a member referred to us, they are having some really bad health issues and with the member we were able to go and participate in some priesthood blessings and explain a little bit about what we do, he's a former pastor so it was a little interesting, but really good, we are excited to keep meeting with them! We also found 10 new people, just one Sunday, which brought us to 16 new people for the week, that was a super fun day. Okay that's all.
Week 92: We had another great lesson with Eric helping him fill out the form and set up the program for this Friday. It was THANKSGIVING! That was super fun, we had breakfast with all the missionaries in our ward, there's 6 of us, and then had dinner with a member who catered Cracker Barrell to the church and that was super fun as well! We had ANOTHER basher who approached us as we were teaching Wanda again in that stupid coffee shop she likes going to, and homie wouldn't leave us alone and proceeded to talk for an hour and half, ruined our lesson with Wanda and the devil achieved his goal of taking us away from what's important, but it happens, I'm over it. Directly after we had Eric's baptism that went incredible! We are super stoked for him. We had a good time teaching Natasha's fam again, the restoration, but Camryn who made the last minute decision to be baptized, hasn't been doing the best since then and was super obnoxious and playing inappropriate language/music the whole time super loud in the other room because he refused to sit in, that was sad. We had Mission Leadership Council Monday in Nashville which is always super fun. Then we had exchanges the next day and I went with Elder Collier, and it was a good exchange, he's a super cool Elder, so that was a good time. We had another lesson with Marilyn and Greg, who we gave blessings to and it went really well as we taught the restoration fully this time. Really strong spirit and Brother Bryan being willing to help us out again was great, members in lessons always makes it 10x better.
Alright well if you read this far props to you and thanks for caring about me so much. I love you. I want you to also know our Savior loves you and is willing lift the burdens off your shoulders, especially in our afflictions. I know even as a missionary, I'm so far from perfect and make mistakes daily, I have a long way to go, luckily not as a missionary lol, which is happy and sad, but I do have a long way to go as a disciple of Jesus Christ and I am excited for that journey. I pray all of you are as well and if you're not, pray for that desire, I promise it will bring more joy in the long run! PHEW, so glad I'm caught up now, that's a lifted burden, let me tell ya!
