Gas shortage, almost got shot, baptismal dates

Wednesday May 12th: Today was interesting lol! We woke up and the mission tried to cancel pday because of the gas situation even though it wasn't a big deal haha. They basically said we had to go shopping, get gas, and come home and hang out at the apartment. Well, like I talked about last week Elder Myers and I were already in Goodlettsville with the zone leaders. So we went to the store and there was a rec center ON THE WAY back so we played ball there for a few hours haha, and then we got steak and shake after which was also on the way, it was awesome! We came home after and got ready and got to work. Nothing too crazy happened though, we had coordination meeting with the Branch and did some Facebook work! We met this girl named Annabelle and we talked a little bit about the rapture and the second coming and that was fun!

Thursday: Had a good day today! We did our studies and made some contacts then we headed to see our friend Chastity. We had a good little conversation on her porch then went to visit some members. The first ones we stopped at sat down and talked to us forever! It was sweet though, their last name is Milam, and turns out their grandson went to school with me in Heber! I totally remember him too, small world! We then found 3 new people to talk to later that night who we called because they had all talked with missionaries in the past! Jordan, Nathan, and Paula! Also sadly, our friend Austin who we dropped the Book of Mormon off to the other day, called and said he's baptist and he was just confused and that's the only reason he talked to us and the he dropped us. Someone definitely gave him an earfull because he wasn't like that at all when we met him. Oh well, the work goes on!

Friday: Today we knocked our weekly planning out in the am. Then in the afternoon we visited some inactive members without much luck. Crazy story though, we almost got shot lol. We knocked on this guy's door who has no trespassing, private property signs everywhere, but we thought it was a member so he'd be okay with us there. Well apparently it wasn't the member. Homie opened the door we asked are you Joe and he said no and slammed the door. We didn't think much of it and knocked on the house next door to see if he might know Joe or be interested in a message, he was heading out to work though and didn't give us any info or interest. Walking back to the car the first guy is out in his yard with a shotgun on his shoulder screaming at us to say nothing and get in the car and leave, yelling about no trespassing, la de da de da. We told him we were getting in and leaving and there's no reason to yell and he just kept going off! He really didn't like when I told him I wasn't going to get in the car because I had to be the backer for Elder Myers haha! I wasn't worried though, for some reason I just didn't feel in danger at all, I was very calm, so that was good, and all is well. We went and played some basketball with some friends at a park after and then talked to a super cool guy named Jeremiah over the phone for awhile and had a really good conversation with him! We also talked to a lady named Megan and things were going really well and she warned us her phone was about to die and next thing you know she was gone and we haven't heard back since but hopefully we will soon!

Saturday: Not much happened today, just a lot of finding. We did have one good lesson with a guy named Nathan though in person with a member. He has got some tough mental issues from the military though so we aren't sure how much he got. We went to the White house elders apartment after and worked there for the rest of the night and headed home.

Sunday: Had a great church service today and our friend Cameron, who needed to come today in order to still be able to have a chance at making his baptismal date came!!! He LOVED it, he really enjoyed the sacrament, and the talks given were on temples and he wants to go so bad. He is such a stud and we are happy and proud of him. Other than that though, super basic day!

Monday: Today we did not have district council because we have zone conference this week, so we did some service in the morning for the roaches, yard work + removing a ton of nails from scrap wood to be reused. It was good. We got little ceasers after from them and ate that with the Franklin Elders at their apartment. We headed home and after dinner we had a great conversation we Danny, a recent convert, just playing guitar and getting to know him better! Then we were able to find another lady who had talked with missionaries in the past named Corie and she seems super sweet so we are excited to keep talking with her. We also cold called into a dude named Connor, who was super chill and interesting in learning about the Book of Mormon, looking forward to talking with him more soon as well!

Tuesday: Today was decent! We had a zoom call with two zones combined and Elder Myers and I had to give a little training and it went pretty well! Later we went and visited some more inactives and one of the houses, the member moved, but the lady living there is actually someone who has met with missionaries in the past because they also knocked looking for that member lol. We shared a little message with her, but she is very set where she is, but once again life goes on and we did what we could. We also visited another house where there was a 3 legged dog and it was such a sweetie. It was tied up pretty tight on a chain though and we loosened the link a couple to give it some breathing room. The member we were looking for didn't live there, but they seemed nice. We got Popeyes and our friend Candice we are teaching works there and so it was a miracle we were finally able to get back in contact with her and set up a lesson for Thursday! We had a decent call with a guy named Fred who has been formerly taught and we talked to him a little bit and set up a call for Saturday. The last thing that happened was definitely the highlight of the day! We cold called into a girl named Shamiah. She happened to be writing in her journal asking God how she can come closer to Him when we called. We shared the restoration and she LOVED it was writing down the whole thing as went on her keyboard. She totally seemed to comprehend. She said she has been having dreams about being baptized AGAIN, before we even asked, needless to say she accepted a baptimal date for June 12. The Nashville YSA elders are getting a good one, such a spirit filled lesson. That's all folks!
