New car, assignment, apartment, area and companion....who dis?!
Wednesday August 26th, Today was awesome! We woke up and went to Walmart. We came home and sent emails out and talked to family. Later we headed down to Murphreesboro to play spike ball and pickleball as always! It was so good and sad to see everyone one last time. I knew I had been here for awhile but I didn't realize how close I had become to all the missionaires. I'm really going to miss all of them and living in the Gregory Mill Ward :( I'm excited for what is to come though! We came home and did some calls and then the new elders living here came over so now there are 5 of us until tomorrow night! Its pretty packed lol it's going to be an interesting transfer for the Elders here haha!
Thur: Today was pretty interesting lol! We woke up and moved stuff around all morning and then we had a couple lessons in the afternoon. We went to David's and he gave me a bin, my tie ashes, and some packing tape haha he's the best. Then we headed to the Nashville Stake Center! I got our 2020 equinox with 22 FREAKIKG MILES, the sim card, and my new comp Elder Packer who is also from Heber and in my stake!! Then we headed home! We picked up the keys from the Sister missionaries in our area and then headed toward Sango. I'm pretty sure they took the apartment we were supposed to live in, which is a bummer, because it was so freaking nice but ours isn't too bad! We got all unpacked and settled in and that was the day!!
Fri: Today was pretty good! In the morning our planner that we use wasn't working so we were a little lost ha but we did our regular morning routine and then picked up a couple things at walmart. We came home and did some contacting and had lunch! After lunch it was back up and running so we did our weekly planning which wasn't too hard considering we know 0 people here and so it was just a lot of finding activities haha! Later we went to the church and figured out how we were going to split the area with the Sisters! Came home and finished weekly planning and then had comp study. After dinner we did more finding and then had a fun zoom call with our zone getting to know everyone! Definitely stayed busy and starting to get more comfortable here!
Sat: Today was a good one! We had a good morning finding then in the afternoon I had my first leadership call which went well. We just talked a lot about Facebook and how we can really help the page and members/missionaires work! We had a good comp study and then we went to the Spencer's for dinner! We sat out on their front porch and it was really nice to get to know them better and get a good scoop on what we should expect from the ward! Definitely all good things, they said the Sango ward is awesome, so I'm pumped! We came home and called a guy named Dawson that the sisters had been talking to before we arrived here and he sounds pretty awesome. We set up a call back for Monday! Finally we did some more finding and that wrapped up the day!
Sun: Today we had a new missionary meeting with all the new missionaries and trainers and that took up our morning but it was really good! After lunch we went to a mans house named Russell! He blew out his knees a few years back so he has been taking it easy for a few years now. We just took him the sacrament with brother Spencer and the sisters. He lives clear out in the boonies so he really appreciated the fellowship and it was super awesome! We came home and had a good comp study and gospel study class hosted by some members of the ward next door and that was really fun to he apart of, the Smith's are their names and they are great! We had dinner and then cold called for awhile. I had a call with the Sister training leaders about how I can best help the Sisters in my district and that was good! Then we had our mission wide devotional as always and it happened to be on leadership which was super cool! Pretty sweet day!
Mon: Today wasn't too bad of a day! We had a really good comp study in the morning. We did some role plays practicing how to teach the first lesson and getting out all the stress of having a first lesson for Elder Packer and that went well! The reason we did that is because we had 5 lessons planned for the afternoon and guess how many answered?? YOU GUESSED IT ALL 0. So that was kinda unfortunate :// We did a lot of cold calling because of it and set up a couple more lessons for the next few days! Elder Packer called into a spanish guy and he was big time excited about it, basically had to hold him back from calling his parents to tell them about it lol. Then we called some members and after a couple calls I let Elder Packer have a go at it, nothing against Elder Packer but boy that might've been the most awkward call ever. I tried to come in and save it half way but it wasnt happening hahaha so that was weird. Then we had a couple more cold calls and I called this guy who belonged to a different religion and he thought we had absolutely nothing in common. well, I kept him on the line and ends up that of course, as I suspected, we most definitely do! The call went really well and he said we could call him back in a couple days! I had a leadership call to end off the night then grinded my rubix cube lol I'm getting somewhat good!!
Tues: Man today was good but a lotttt of cold calling!! We had 4 lessons, once again all four, no answer... super lame. So that's a big reason for the cold calls as it is our back up plan when things fall through! We went to Arby's for a break and got a shake and then to Wendy's for dinner. I know that sounds like a lot of fast food but we have been living off what the Sisters left in this apartment and so it was a good splurge haha! On that note ,for those who don't know, I might have gained a few pounds on the mission thus far but I've lost a decent amount in the last week so. Right now I'm at the lowest I've been since like April!! hahaha I can do the rubix cube every time now!! Elder Packer is a lot faster than me obviously but I can do it and that's all I care about!! Hope everyone is doing well shoot me an email or something if you'd like, love to hear from yall!! :))
