Sorry about last week! Zone conference! Chicken Sandwich face off??
Hey everyone I know I've been super bad at keeping up on my journals lately so this is going to be kind of a summary of all the big important things I want to remember and hope y'all enjoy reading too!
Friday March 5 we taught this guy named Jordan. He literally was one of the most prepared people I have talked to on my mission. It was the sweetest thing ever, homie has been praying for God to answer his prayers and lead him to the truth and the restoration rang so clearly to him. He was so appreciative and wanted us to know he believes we truly were sent to him by God and it was so touching. We sadly had to pass him off though to the sisters in NC so hopefully they treat him good!
Sat 6th - Took a half hour lunch today to take an hour and a half dinner. We went and got all the local chicken sandwiches to have a competition! Honestly in my opinion, first Popeyes then Zaxbys, followed by Chick-fil-A and last McDonald's;) Super good meal with the sisters though! We also found a guy named Brandon tonight on Facebook and he is such a sweet kid. He is a bit special mentally, but he seems to just know this is the truth and it was really fun to teach him.
Sun 7th- The sisters investigator, Aiden, who is Nadia's son got up in sacrament to bear his testimony. This 8 year old kid is wise beyond his years. He gave the most beautiful testimony of Jesus Christ and said the name of Christ at least 15 times in a 2 minute testimony . It was the sweetest and most powerful testimony and the amen from the congregation at the end was booming. Needless to say his baptism, later that day, was incredible (which he invited everyone to during his testimony) and im so happy for him and his family.
Tue 9th - Nothing important today but we had a call from a couple hebrew israelites and they basically told us we are condemned because we are white and it was kind of funny because the one we were originally calling gave his phone to his friend to share a thought who then proceeded to attack us and you could here his friend screaming STANLEE NO STOP IT! STANLEE PLEASE! YOU ARE ON MY PHONE STANLEE KNOCK IT OFF! It was super funny. Super weird, but a funny memory to always remember.
Wed 10th: We went fishing today with the district! Super fun and almost everyone caught a fish!! We had a really great time with the Ross'! Then we went to Chick-fil-A and washed the car in prep for zone conference tomorrow!
Thurs: We had zone conference today and as always it was super fun! However, the topic was love because missionaires including me, have been starting to lose focus of why we do what we do, being focused more on numbers than people... which obviously is not how it should be done so it was a great thing to bring up, talk about, and train on. But it totally gave off the wrong vibe and now missionaires are justifying not working hard by saying they are loving more. Oh my gosh haha I'm not sure what will happen in order to correct what they've done lol... it was good though. Then we went to bdubs after and that was a slap as always!!
Sat: today we had a really productive morning which was awesome and then we had a good lunch at chipotle with the district! Later we went to knock on some unknown by the ward members and we got to street contact and tract because both members no longer lived there so it turned into a door approach haha! We went 1/2 on knocking doors and 0/1 on street contacting, but had a great conversation with a guy named Douglas and honestly for my street contacting experience I was super happy with how it went! Gregory the man we knocked on seems super cool and I complimented him on his truck and he said "everybody likes it" it was pretty funny, 0 humilty hahaha. It was a good day though!
Sun: We had stake conference today it was super good! There was some super good musical numbers! Then at the end of the day we found a lady named Sylviane and she was a Jehovah's Witness, but the call actually went really pretty good for the most part and we have a call back with her on Wednesday so looking forward to that!!
Mon: Had a super good district council this morning but next week I definitely want to work on it being a little more spiritual haha I feel like it's a little too wild sometimes! We got lunch at Smokin Chikin afterwards too and it was way good! Then we went out to Don's house (the man we were teaching forever ago back when Elder Packer was here) and did some service for him, we also gave him a Priesthood Blessing because he is going through some really hard times both physically and emotionally, so hopefully it helps him!!
Tue: We tried to go wake up Desiree for a lesson and we knocked on her door and her friend told us she was out with her parents, even though her car was in the driveway, and we still have yet to here back from her. We drove out to a guy named Jason's house to drop off a Book of Mormon and talk about it but he was heading out so at least we caught him and got to give him the Book of Mormon, but hopefully we can actually make the lesson happen in the future! We went to lunch with Elder Thacker's friend from back home who happened to be traveling through and that was fun! We had two great lessons! One with Tim and one with Anna! We taught them both the restoration and it was super spiritual!! We are really excited to see where they go! Then we had a good gospel study class and I had an awesome leadership call. They "hinted" they could see me being a zone leader next transfer and I don't know if I'm ready for that haha so we'll see what the Lord has in store, but it was really good to be able to talk about all the things that went wrong with zc and how we can recover because they all agreed with me on my standpoint of it which made me happy. That wraps up the day and week!
