Wednesday October 21st: Today was a pretty fun pday! Elder Packer made pancakes and I made buttermilk syrup for the district. We had a big pancake hangout on our porch before we all headed off to target. We got our flu shots along with a 10 dollar gift card which was used for jerky and sushi lol. Then we headed to Walmart for our groceries and then headed home. We emailed and talked to family for the rest of pday! After pday we did some finding and found a couple people and had a one really long lesson and one really short one. The long lesson we taught the first lesson up until the great apostasy because the guy was super biblically smart and so we got into a lot of deep stuff which then turned into adam and eve, and it was a wild lesson! He definitely was super cool, sadly he is going out of town for the next few weeks but we are looking forward to talking again! Then with other lesson we just had a quick lesson on faith and set up a call back for Friday! Not too bad of a night!
Thursday: Today was pretty long. We had a lesson in the morning that didn't go well at all. We asked the lady if she still had time to talk and she said of course I actually have something to show you and showed us a scripture taken completely out of context then bashed us saying we are going to be in trouble in the last days for texting people false doctrine and that we could never teach her anything. We ended with a prayer and hung up lol Then we just did finding all day until after dinner and then we had a lesson with Garret again and read Helaman 2 and talked about the secret combinations and related to today's world and he loved it! He started telling us about all this crazy conspiracy theory stuff haha then we came home had a facebook meeting and finished off the night inviting again!
Fri: Today was good. We did a quick bit of Facebook in the morning then did weekly planning then we went and picked up some clothes from a lady to donate. She enthusiastically said "okay you can share your Jesus now" we were like uh we don't just want to do it to humor ourselves and instead we just started asking her questions and it was actually a pretty cool conversation. She had never heard of Heavenly Mother before and that really intrigued her. We left her with a pamphlet to read and set up a return appointment for halloween, but in her words we have a heck of a challenge ahead of us with her lol. We finished weekly planning when we got back and then we had a super amazing lesson with an old lady. It was on the plan of salvation. We started out by asking where do we go when we die and she said, "Uh, the spirit world" and Elder Packer and I stared at each other and were like... yep. But we continued on and taught an amazing lesson. We then had her say the closing prayer and she gave a very basic lds format prayer and we knew instantly hahaha she was a member, maybe not an active member but a member none the less. She threw us off though because she said she belonged to a different church so I'm still confused with that one.;) We asked the missionaries next door and sure enough she is a member in their ward haha! We had some other great contacts with people tonight and then had a fun zone call. Sorry this was a long entry but it was an eventful day.
Saturday: We visited the bishops house this morning to have him sign Katie's baptismal forms and he has a fun family and it was fun to talk to him. After we got home I got the best package from Makayla! I was so pumped! I actually ran out of mission funds earlier this week (it's okay grandma and nana I don't need any more money, I promise, I love you both though!!) but anyways I have .57 cents left so I haven't been able to get a drink from the gas station all week! Kayla sent me 4 monsters and it was the greatest day ever, coincidence?? Nope, tender mercy, she's truly the best. Thanks Kayla:) Then we had a good comp study at the church and then had really good call with a guy named Don. The sisters in another area found in another area found him and gave him to us. The conversation lasted a long time. We were just talking about all his knowledge of the Bible and so I asked if we could just head to his house and he said sure. So we went and taught and hour and a half about the restoration and I think we talked for 10 mins of it... It was really long but he was actually accepting and open and said he would read and pray about the Book of Mormon and if God told him it was true he would be baptized again. He also said he would try and make it to church tomorrow so hopefully he makes it! After that we just made contacts and invites the rest of the night and then I called all the companionships in my district and chatted with them for a bit, it was a pretty exhausting day to say the least.
Sunday: Today was good, we got to go to church again and guess what? Until the time I leave this area I'll never NOT go to church again!! Starting November 1st my ward will be having a service every week with everyone who wants to come is welcome! Super pumped!! Still just a 45 minute service but who cares that's 45 more minutes than I was getting every other week before!! So that is awesome! I got to pass the sacrament today too which was the first time since I was deacon. Other than that we did some finding, comp study, gospel study class, finding, and mission devotional, nothing too special but it was a good day!! Oh that guy Steven from a few weeks back we texted today after his requested two weeks to read and pray. He said he wasn't interested... big bummer, on to the next!!
Monday: Today was good, nothing too special. We did some finding in the morning and then went to the church and did some finding there in the afternoon. We came home and a member dropped off some gumbo and it was really good! We had a lesson with a lady named Carla after which basically just ended up being her telling us all the things she believed. It was good information but not really super beneficial. After she left we walked to a ladies house that we almost started teaching a little while back but she wasn't home. On our walk home we ran into an inactive members who were also out for a walk and gave them a Book of Mormon and invited them to church so hopefully they can make it!! We came home and did more finding then I had an hour long leadership call. Throwback to my first transfer when we got all the bummer news and I had to be positive about it!! There was some good but a lot of it is just the standards being more enforced and I've never been one that likes to be told what to do. However, God promises blessings to those who are obedient and being negative just makes it worse so.. yay more rules!! :)) that pretty much wraps up our day though!
Tuesday: Today we had district council and I had to break all of the new updates/rules to the district but it actually went really well and not as bad as I thought! We went to Chick Fil A afterwards and that was good! Had a good comp study, did some finding, invited a few people to gospel study class. Then we had a quick lesson with a lady named Vicki. We had another gospel study class, then had a call with a lady named Karla and that wrapped up the night!!
