Not 1, but 2 apostles this week!
First off thanks so much to all the people who emailed me this past week, I will try and get back to all of you! Thank you also to the Henderson family for all the awesome truewear ties!! I can now have a new look almost every day of the months;) They are sweet!! Thank you to the Braddy family as well for the Pepsi, skittles, and sweet hydroflask! I definitely needed a water bottle! Yall are the best, and I'm so lucky to have such a supportive and loving family!! <3
Wednesday Septmember 9th : Today was good! We woke up and talked to family and sent some emails then headed to Walmart to pick up some fishing stuff so we can go on our breaks and pdays in the future! We had Arby's for lunch then headed to a soccer field with the district, it was alright but nothing too exciting haha. We got ice cream after then came home and talked to family and sent emails out again until pday was over. Afterwards we grinded for 3 hours straight contacting and inviting people, it was pretty rough mentally but overall a good day. We are planning on fishing tomorrow morning for exercise time so hopefully we find a good spot!!
Thur: Well... we did not find a good spot lol we drove around way too long and found nothing haha we did a lot of Facebook finding today. We had our comp study in the morning and then more finding for a good majority of the afternoon, besides a quick fb meeting in between. We had dinner from Brother Reist and decided to ask him about a good fishing spot and he gave us some directions for tomorrow, super hyped about that! Afterwards, we did some more Facebook finding and then went to our ward correlation meeting, that was good! After that we came home for some more fb finding and then I had to make some calls to some of the sisters of our district and then I talked to Elder Ballard for awhile haha it wasnt too bad of a day!
Fri: We got to fish this morning! It was sweet, I caught a fish! It wasn't anything special but it made for a great morning! We weekly planned for the rest of the morning afterwards then in the afternoon we had a zoom call with Elder and Sister Renlund! It was a super good call! Something that really stood out to me is when Elder Renlund testified boldly that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is led by Jesus Christ himself. Obviously we all know this, but to hear one of the Lord's apostles say this was pretty cool. We had a good lesson with a guy named Deidrick later and taught the restoration and that went really well! We sadly had to pass him off to the missionaires next door so hopefully things go well for them! We made a video for our ward page with the Sisters and it is way corny lol, then we came home and had an interesting member meal (it wasn't bad, it was just very healthy and small haha) so we cooked a big meal that Elder Packer's mom sent us that was like prepackaged we just had to prepare it and it was pretty good but I ate way too much hahaha it was a good day, but I'm super tired.
Sat: Today wasn't too bad! Not a whole lot to report on though haha! We did a lot of finding throughout the first half of the day and then we had an awesome lesson with a girl named Katie and she told us she would come to church with us tomorrow! We are praying that will happen because it would be so sweet!! Then for our break we went fishing again and it was an ordeal lemme tell ya. We went and supposedly they are doing a fireworks show in September?? But anyways because of that everything was closed/weird but we got in anyway after waiting for a bit. Sadly we caught absolutely nothing and then proceeded to get kicked out by a cop even though we were told by another cop it was okay haha Fun time! Then we came home and did more finding to finish the night!
Sun: We got to go to church today!! It was so great and Katie did end up coming!! Since we literally have taught her pretty much nothing, I think she was a little overwhelmed but she sat by the sisters while we blessed the sacrament and then we talked to her after. She said that although she didn't understand much, she loved it so that was so sweet! After church we didn't do much of anything besides invite people. We had a gospel study class, and Elder and Sister Rasband's young adult devotional. The devotional was really good, one of the quotes that stood out most to me was near the end when Elder Rasband said, "All of your questions can be answered by the Lord Jesus Christ. He truly has the great answer for all of your questions." That really hit me, because I know it is true, although it can be hard to "Hear Him" at times, He knows you, He knows what you're going through, and most importantly He loves you. I know that we can show our love back to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ by communicating with them through sincere prayer, never disregard this commandment, He wants to hear from you! That's all I have for today! :)
Mon: Today was pretty sweet! We had a good district council and then headed to Chick Fil A for lunch and ate at a park! After we came home and had a lesson, and this is going to sound crazy but for the first time in my mission (as far as I can remember) we had someone who just did not like the restoration lesson at all! They pretended like they were getting a call and we asked for 2 more mins to wrap up so he dropped the fake call thing and just straight up said "this 100% goes against my beliefs, there's no reason for another call, goodbye." So, I'm not going to lie that was a big bummer and it kinda put Elder Packer in a bummy mood for a little bit afterwards... but of course we got over it and continued giving invitations. We had a good dinner and then I had a call with the Sister training leaders and then later on a zone leadership call and that wrapped the day up!
Tue: Today was great! We had an awesome lesson with Gabriel and his mom again today and taught the plan of salvation. His mom helped us a ton and asked some great questions to make Gabriel think and it went shweet!! We had a great lesson with Katie later on too! We met at the church and taught the restoration! She has heard lots of negative things about the church however she really liked what she heard from us today. I think it's actually really good that she has heard about all that negative/false things already, because now instead of looking for those things, she can just focus instead on learning and listening from the believers not from people who don't believe and hate. She has a ton of potential and she's awesome! We got a sweet dinner from the Shortt family and then I had a leadership call again with President Weaver, and all the district and zone leaders in the mission. We went over the procedure of a baptismal interview and it was super helpful and will definitely help me a ton when I can look over those notes before my first one! It was a pretty sweet day!
