Go forth, united, in the strength of the Lord

Wednesday September 2nd: Today was pretty good! We went to Walmart and then we hung around at the house for a pretty long time. I didn't think the day was going too bad however, Elder Packer was itching to get out and do something, so we called the Sisters and we ended up meeting them at a park. We played some games and it was pretty fun! We came home and did some talking and had 2 of our 3 lessons fall through BUT AT LEAST WE HAD 1!!! We taught the plan of salvation for the first time in my mission. I had someone disagree that Adam was first person on earth and it genuinely stumped me because I never thought I would have to prove that. We talked about it for a long time and I'm definitely going to study up on that question! However, when we were closing up our lesson HE ASKED US for a Book of Mormon. We didn't even have to offer one to him:) He said if yall are gonna use it then I need to have one, not because I believe it, but just so I can follow along. I personally feel that this is  a good start. I think he just didn't want to admit he was curious....it was so cool!!! That was pretty much it though, not a bad pday!

Thu: Today was so good!! Wow! I had my first district council as district leader and at the end during my training President and Sister Weaver walked in!!! Stressful? Extremely!! However, it went really well! I had interviews with President after and that was really good too. He shared Alma 60:16 with me and Moses 6:31 and we discussed the new mission motto which is "Go forth, united, in the strength of the Lord." I love it, definitely would recommend giving those scriptures a good read and ponder! Afterwards me and Elder Packer went to subway to pick up sandwiches for the whole district and that was way harder than it needed to be hahaha we came home and a KILLER lesson with a girl named Maggie. We taught the restoration and it went so well!! She wants a Book of Mormon, and said when she knows it is true, she wants to be baptized!! She's amazing! We had our dinner and did some Facebook work and then had a ward coordination meeting at the church, and that went well too! Today was pretty awesome!

Fri: Today we had another super cool lesson!! We had our comp study in the morning and then our FIRST COLD CALL OF THE DAY turned into a lesson! We shared a scripture and he loved it! We asked if we could call back at a better time and share a message. He said, "Well why not right now", so we did! We taught the restoration and gave a soft baptismal invite at the end and he hung up... so we called back and PHEW he just lost connection. We invited him again and he said absolutely! He was on a road trip but we will hopefully be getting him a Book of Mormon on Sunday!! After lunch we had another good lesson with a guy named Jason. He is pretty much the same scenario as Chad but he said he wasn't sure about being baptized as he has already been baptized when he was a freshman in high school. He asked us to wait until next week to call him back so we'll see what happens with that! Afterwards we dropped off a Book of Mormon to the guy who asked for it! He shared with us some of the concerns and then said, "You know, I think yall are right about what you said!" It is so cool to see that the spirit has been working on him and he was able to feel the truthfulness of our message without us even doing anything. It was awesome! Sadly though he's not in our area so we told him we would give the other Elders his number and he was excited about that!  He also had a pretty cool rock/fossil/arrowhead collection as well (picutre of one below) We got our weekly planning done when we got home and then cold called pretty much the rest of the night until the zone leaders got here. I headed off to hoptown (Hopkinsville, KY) with Elder Plumb for an exchange. I'm here now and ready to go to bed! Should be a good day tomorrow!

Sat: Today was good! We woke up and had breakfast and the hopkinsville elders had their ward coordination meeting so I was there for that and kind of got to hear what they have going on so that was fun. We went to a guys house named Kenny first thing and we taught the plan of salvation outside his house. The lesson was kind of all over the place but wow was the spirit strong! He broke down a couple times just saying how he couldn't even describe it any other way besides joy and peace, it was truly incredible! He'll be attending church there tomorrow and I'm so excited for him. We came back and we did a lot of texting today which was new. We would send out the same text message to 10 numbers and then another text message to 10 numbers and it was kind of fun haha and somewhat effective! Then we went and got dinner from some members and on the way we passed out two Book of Mormons at stop lights! It was pretty sweet! I also called someone that the missionaries had been talking to but they oddly they hadn't introduced the fact that they were "mormons"  nor did they mention the Book of Mormon itself so I did that. Even though he was taken back by those two things he said he's open to new things and we could meet up later on to get him one, pretty sweet! Then Elder Packer and Elder Carpenter came back and Elder Packer and I headed home!

Sun: Today was good. Another fast Sunday has come and this time around our mission has set a goal to have everyone experience a baptism by Oct. 31! So we fasted for help and to show the dedication we have to that goal to the Lord. We did some finding in the morning, and then during the afternoon we went and visited some part member families. The first was really sweet it was a lady and her husband and you could tell she really wants him to be baptized but she is somewhat inactive herself... but they both agreed to some lessons so we will definitely be teaching them later this week! The second was a girl who lives at home with her dad and a ton of other kids. She seems like she somewhat knows the gospel but not a ton and with things so crazy she doesn't know if anyone in her family would want to take the lessons but it was good getting to talk to her and we invited her to church this next Sunday! The last one we knocked wasn't home :( we came back and had a good comp study and then we had a gospel class with our ward and the ward next door over zoom! That was super good! We went over the come follow me for this past week together and it's always awesome studying with others and hearing their insights, that's why it is so important we do come follow me as a family and not individually! Obviously individually is better than nothing but strive to do it with others! We made some more contacts after dinner and then had an awesome lesson on the plan of salvation with a lady named Frankie. Sadly once again, not in our area but she wants a Book of Mormon so we will definitely let the missionaires near her know!! Lastly we had our mission devotional where we once again went over the motto of Go forth, united, in the strength of the Lord. It went really well! :)

Mon: Today we had district council in the morning which is always fun! I gave the training and don't tell anyone but I forgot until the night before so I planned the morning of and it went pretty well actually so that was awesome! Afterwards we went to lunch at a place called tropical smoothie and I got a bahama mama smoothie with a chicken pesto flatbread sandwich and it was good but not 11 dollars good... lol afterwards we just did a lot of finding aside from a comp study in the afternoon. It was definitely kind of rough! I've realized that I've pretty much been straight calling people for four months now! I know I called people before then but I would do other things too... but the last four months have just been pretty much straight calling and it's been hard. I'll be honest. Definitely gotta keep praying for strength and motivation and pray the Lord blesses us with someone interested and willing to progress!!

Tue: Today was super sweet! We had a lesson outside with a convert who is 9 and his mom. He is crazy smart! He loves to read, and they had the cutest puppy (chip)!! It was way fun! We came back home and did some cold calling and we had the idea to go through and call some numbers back that didn't answer on the THIRD ONE we were able to teach the restoration and invite him to be baptized on the 3rd of October. The spirit was so strong, he has a lot of things we still need to teach him, but I know he will pray about it, and I know the Lord will answer him. So cool! Then we went to the chruch and taught another family in the ward the restoration and the mom and son who is my age listened but the other siblings definitely did not and repeatedly asked when it was time to go home haha, it went well though! We had a gospel study class that we led afterwards and talked about premortal life, our life on earth, atonement, and the second coming. It went okay, not the greatest though, but it's fine. After we went to the sister's back porch and did finding with them until 9. They cooked burgers for us! They really went all out too! Toasted buns, double burger, bacon, cheese, definitely way more effort then I've ever put into a homemade burger!! It was a good day forsure!
