Becoming Gods

Wednesday September 23rd: Today was so weird. We had a lot of fun, but it was just an off day. I don't really know how to describe it! Anyway, we went fishing with a ward member named Jesse. He's super cool and we went to another member's private pond and "wow" did it top the place we were going to before!! We caught 19 fish all together!! We came home and chilled the rest of the day and it was good! We invited people for the rest of the night and it was over before we knew it!

Thursday: Before anything else, I just received news that Kaden Baxter was killed today in a tragic car accident. I am not sure how many of you that read this knew him, but he was a year older than me at Wasatch High School and we played football together. I wasn't super close with him, but I was around him a lot. It truly breaks my heart his life was cut so short because of another persons irresponsible, inconsiderate, and ridiculous decision to Drink and Drive. DON'T DO IT! I know Bax's family will be able to see him again and so will his friends, because God loves us and He has a plan for us all. Rest in Peace, Big Bax, thanks for the memories.

Other than that today was really good. We had zone conference with a lot of inspirational talks given by our mission leaders. I took some pics with some missionaires that are going home this transfer, which is kinda of sad, but I'm really happy for them! We had a good correlation meeting afterwards which pretty much wrapped up our day.

Friday: Today wasn't too bad. We had a good weekly planning session and then Elder and Sister Niles came and did an apartment inspection. We had an amazing lesson with Spencer. We taught the rest of the plan of salvation and he loved it. He said he prayed about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and he feels like God told him he is going in the right direction and that was so good to hear, he is the best! We went to Katie's marching band performance to support her and that was fun to get out of the apartment and feel somewhat normal haha aside from covid stuff! We finished off the night with some Facebook and cold calls and then I got roasted by the Sisters in the district for a "bad" group picture lol I guess they don't like my gangsta' pose so that was a good way to end the night haha.

Saturday: Today was pretty sweet. We had a lesson with Katie and Sister Wright in the morning and taught about a lot of the little things about the church. The two biggest things being temples and family history. It was a good lesson! Then we came home and threw the baseball around and did some finding. We had dinner and then went to the sisters house to do some finding on their patio! We drove the sisters to an appointment with a military guy a little later and we waited in the car and did more finding but they said it went really well for them! So that was cool too!

Sunday: Today we had church again!! Katie did some missionary work and invited one of her friends!!! So cool! Spencer sadly wasn't able able to make it, but he made it to the gospel study class which I will talk about later on! After church the ward invited Elder Packer and me to ward council, which was fun. We got to kind of get more of a scoop on the ward and meet a few more people! Then we came home and had lunch. After we had the gospel study class with Katie, her friend, Kendall, and Spencer. They've attended before so the members that host the class are very aware that we are bringing investigators to the class to learn more, so the chosen topic was very surprising to me! The topic could have been faith, baptism, maybe even the Holy Ghost, INSTEAD he chose the topic of becoming gods... it's like they thought to themselves what's the deepest doctrine we can hit these newcomers with! Anyways, our people are so solid and so awesome it didn't even shake them as far as we know, but still, definitely a questionable topic choice. Afterwards, we just did finding the rest of the night until our mission wide call with some success.

Monday: Happy Birthday, Dad! Today wasn't bad, but wasnt super fun either. We found. All day. Really nothing else happened. We threw the baseball during our breaks, got Arby's for lunch and that is about it!

Tuesday: Today definitely wasn't as tedious as yesterday! We had district council in the morning and Elder Packer and I went to Walmart and got some cords to put the Cunningham sisters on the TV, because their foursome wasn't able to make it in person this week! The zone leaders came though and it all went well. We found for a good portion of the afternoon, but also had a good lesson with Spencer! We taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and read 2 Nephi 31, it was sweet! We challenged him to complete the Book of Mormon by his birthday on Oct. 20!! We found for the rest of the night then I had another leadership call! Not a bad day!

Meet Katie. This is after her band concert. She is awesome and on track to be baptized on October 17th
