I was nomintated for missionary of the month
Wednesay May 6th: Man I hate Pday!! It goes so darn fast, it's not fair!! Today was good haha we talked to family and sent out emails this morning. Then we went to Walmart for groceries and came home and put everything in the fridge and in our cabinets. Talked to family and hung out for a bit. We then left to drop off a Book Of Mormon to a guy. We got there and he said he doesn't believe what we believe. However, we drove about 30 mins and I wasn't having that lol. I asked him if we could share a message with him and go over some Bible verses, that got him to put down his welding stuff and he wheeled over to us and started talking about his tractor that we were next to. We got to talking and he realized we do have a lot of similar beliefs and he invited us to stay. We talked about the Book Of Mormon and I made it clear to him that Joseph Smith did not write it. He had always been told he did, so this was big news to him! The whole thing went really well and it was really cool. Now time for bed again, night!
Thur: Had a good devotional with the district. Did some Facebook finding and man, some people believe weird things! After lunch we tried contacting people using the phonebook and got three people to answer but they were not interested... had a good comp study. We got in contact with a lady named Patricia and her sister and that went well. Had a zone facebook training over zoom. Had a great lesson with the Church's and taught about temples and family history! Played some ball then had another super cool lesson with a lady named Violet who has been formerly taught and she seems so cool. She said we can call anytime to share a message, it was so nice hearing someone who was receptive! Then taught two phillipino girls over Facebook and they agreed to be baptized lol so we referred them to the missionaries out there. It was super funny because they dont speak very good English! Then we had one last contact with a dude named Brandon and that went good too, our night was very successful! Goodnight!
Fri: Happy Birthday to my twin siblings. Crazy they are 12! Had a good morning and weekly planning session. Had some good non member contacts followed by lunch that we made with ingredients from a member. Dropped a Book Of Mormon off to a guy and then visited with Violet and her kids and it was so amazing. She was so ready for it and told us how it's going to be their favorite book and let me set a study schedule with reminders on her phone and she loved everything we taught! It was so cool! Then we came home and did some more planning. We had two dinners given to us by Sister Dunaway and Brother Torgersen and we put one in the fridge and saved the other for lunch tomorrow! The members are so good to us. I am very lucky! We then had a lesson fall through so we did some more planning and then had a lesson with David and told stories about the Holy Ghost it went really well too. Elder Tietjen taught me some Spanish and I am progressing muy lentamemte! Good day! Night!
Sat: Had a pretty good day. It did feel a little longer than usual but it was good. We had a good morning contacting members and that went really well. We had a good lunch then tried Facebook finding for a bit and found a guy from Bahrain. We had a lesson with him and he asked for a Book Of Mormon and said he will be going to church when it opens back up! We taught a lesson to Chris and he is doing awesome! He'll definitely be prepared for his date! We then contacted some people from Elder Clarkes last area. He will probably be returning either later this transfer or next transfer. We had a good dinner, played some ball for awhile which was way fun, then contacted formers. We had to go help the spanish elders because they locked their keys in the family history room at the church lol, idiotas! ;) Then Elder Clarke and I had a 10 min discussion/debate on how many transfers we have total. It is 17! I was right. It is not 16 like Elder Clarke thought!! We laughed about it after though, so no contention here;)!! Night
Sun: Happy Mother's Day! Had a really great sabbath. Had sacrament with the Dunaway's in the morning and talked about music and movies with them and then had breakfast. It was a fun beginning to our day. We then had a good comp study. I had an awesome time talking to family and a good lesson with Glenda. Later we had a super fun time at the Gibbs having a campfire and eating food with them! We kept our distance and stayed outdoors;) We had hot dogs and these things where you cook a biscuit on a stick and it turns into like a biscuit bowl and you fill it with taco meat and cheese or nutella and fruit! They are called a wuffom, super good! Then had a good mission wide devotional and I ended the day by doing sacrament with my family over facetime, good times. G'night
Mon: Had a good and decent training. They talked about facebook and I hate it when they do that. They just make it so strict and there is conflicting advice and guidance and it doesn't feel natural. To be completely honest I don't feel the pages themselves being as effective as just using the app. They have a lot of potential but so far I personally havent seen success and so it just kinda bugs me when they talk about it. I know I should have a better attitude but it just seems like they are continually trying to force it to work and it's not. Anyway, after we called Chris. He is doing amazing! He's reading the scriptures and praying and he seems so much happier, it's so cool to see. Had a good comp study and some more contacts. Then had two solid lessons teaching the restoration with Phillip and Shirley! Finished off the night by calling David and talking to him, not a bad day! Shleep
Tues: Had an awesome call with some other missionaries from around the world this morning in a zoom call that David Smith (not the same David that I'll be talking about later in this entry) put on for us and it started the day of super spiritual and awesome! Then we headed to David's and I attempted weed wack his yard and got about half of it done but it kept dying out and it was dang near impossible to start. I ended up getting some bad blisters on my hand from pulling so many times lol. Then we had a family history lesson from a member followed by us going to the church to do family history. David brought us dinner and we had a good restoration lesson with a family over there phone. We made a video for the facebook page, talked to some other missionaries over Facebook messenger and now finally bed. Out like a light
