Locked up!

Weekly

Wed: Well my first day is coming to an end and it has been really fun. My companion is Elder Gosney (gawz-knee) and he has been super cool. He is motivated, but not too serious so that's dope, weve already talked about how weird TN is going be with new companions. We had lots of introductions and tours and got asked the questions "whats your name?" "Where are you from?" "Where are you going?" "One interesting fact?" And "why are you serving a mission?" Probably 100 times, so that got old! Elder Hess is body builder, but brought star wars action figures so im still trying to get a read on him, funny guy though he asked "Do you dare me?" to everything today and he just got done brushing his teeth with hand soap lol... found some scrolls and such in the vents (pic below) and that wraps up day 1!

Thurs: Today was my first full day! Still doing good and love it here, definitely think of when I'll be comimg home sometimes but trying my best to tell myself not to think about that cuz its not happening for a long time. Also as much as I am enjoying the MTC, it"s hard not to count down the days until I hop on the plane and get started for real! Our trc teacher told us that the hands have already been laid upon our heads and we are just as much missionaries here as we are out there, but I am so ready to get to TN. Lifted some weights with my body building roomate and had to tap about 3/4 through the workout, I am going to be sore tomorrow! Also met the branch presidency and they are very nice. Ran into Elder Swainston and Nabaum a couple times so that's pretty cool! And the cafeteria is hooking it up tomorrow with a promising line up of breakfast burritos in the am, chicken tenders for lunch, and papa johns for dinner so pumped for that!

Fri: Today was good, had too long of a shower (which was nice). Had a good Book of Mormon study. Then had a pretty decent breakfast burrito! We had our first real classes today and those went well,  our teachers are Bro Coca and Bro Barker seem pretty cool so that's good. Then we had a workshop and i was sooo tired I could hardly keep my eyes open. We had papa johns pizza for dinner and then it was exercise night. Met Elder Hansen who is going to UVU for a basketball prefered walk on scholarship, played him one on one and only lost by 2 but probably would have had him if I wasn't in running shoes haha jk he's kinda good. ;)

Sat: Today was a good day. Had some good classes today, and some good meals. Something really cool happened during our second class. We taught our first lesson to a teacher as a practice and I was pretty nervous before hand. My companion and I did a role play lesson like an hour prior and I was stumbling over all my words, and so I wasn't confident at all. My comp was super nice though and gave me like a mini pep talk lol. We went in there and it went super good and I didnt stumble at all. So I was very excited. My companion and I also lost our phones and wallets at sports night and didnt have them all last night, we thought they were gone. However we prayed we'd find them and in the morning we got called to office and there they were! So pretty cool day overall.

Sun: Today was my first sunday! Sadly kinda started out as a bummer because they only had cereal for breakfast and #1 I like hot breakfast and #2 it didn't fill me up but other than me being spoiled everything else was cool. Had priesthood for an hour than sacrament and the talks were good but I could hardly keep my eyes open, idk why either! I really do get good slee. I'm just always so tired in classes and meetings :(. Then we had lunch and another meeting then choir lol yes mom I did choir. The teacher is super funny and spiritual and gave one of the best Joseph Smith stories ever! I've never heard someone tell it and not sound like they are talking about a fictional character, so that was super interesting. Email me and I can give you more details if u want haha. Then Elder Calister gave a talk and it was alright, but afterwords we listened to an Elder Bednar talk on a recording and it was amazing!! He talked about forgetting ourselves and straight up said so blunty that we are all so selfish and to knock it off! He compared it to the cookie monster wanting more and more and never being satisfied. He told us how having a testimony will only get you so far and you need to whole heartedly convert to the lord in order to stay true in the church. He gave a story about a relief society president who was a single mom that is too long to go into details but to sum it up her only daughter died in an accident with friends and as soon as she found out she was pronounced dead she forgot herself and just wanted to let the other moms know about their daughters which would take crazy strength! Then a lady called her on the day of her daughters funeral (that she had no clue about to be fair but still rude) complaining and whining that a sister had been sick and hadn't recieved a meal from anyone yet, so she prepared a meal and on her way to her ONLY DAUGHTERS FUNERAL she dropped a meal off to a lady with minor problems. This lady was a great example of turning out and never turning in! I have a lesson at 9:30 am tomorrow with a maybe fake non member that we havent started yet so wish us luck!

Mon: Super fun day, had pancakes for breakfast with eggs and hashbrowns. Had the lesson with Kersee (kur-see) which went well! And a member lesson practice too which went alright for 0 prep. Then had lunch which was chicken and waffles which i really like apparently and also gyros which reminded me of my dad saying jye ro at the Arby's drivethrough but it's okay dad a ton of missionaries said the same thing. Then we had a fun after noon class followed by dinner which was fish and chips and lasagna which was alright. Had excersize night which was super fun with Elder Swainston playing volleyball. We got home and Elder Gosney my comp lost his wallet again!! Someone either moved it or took it from our room so we are praying he finds it tomorrow. Lastly my family sent me a package with treats and letters and it made my day my grandparents also sent me a nice little motivational letter and I loved that too!

Tue: Today was super fun! Had a 6:45 workout cuz it is Tuesday and we have devotional at the time we would normally work out (7:45pm) so that was weird and way too early for me lol. Then after was breakfast which was these breakfast sandwich things and my district was complaining about the cheese being "fake cheese that they wrap in plastic" but I was thinking in my head I've been eating this my whole life! so thanks mom and dad for buying fake cheese my whole life and setting me up for cafeteria food so I can enjoy it. Then we had class which was good nothing super special though. Then lunch then a workshop that we were late too cuz me and gosney went to get some laundry supplies for thursday which couldn't come any sooner cuz I'm running low on the clothes options every morning. Then class again, then dinner which was taco bell that destroyed me and gosney and the poor toilet. Then we had the devotional which was given by elder neilson byu quarter back, college football hall of famer and his wife which was pretty cool and he gave a really good talk about Joseph Smith and book of mormon videos that I've been watching a ton here. And his wife talked about Joseph Smith's multiple accounts of the first vision and explained why they were different. Finally we had a good devotional review with my district and when we got home me gosney, Hess, and Thayer were making jokes and I haven't laughed that hard in awhile so that was awesome too! Long day though goodnight.

WED: Today was very fun again. French toast for breakfast with eggs hashbrowns and bacon so that was good. Followed by a lesson that sucked! The lady we are teaching gives us nothing to work with and is so hard to teach. She seems so uninterested and bored no matter what direction we try and take the lesson so I'm excited for Friday cuz that's our last lesson with her till we get someone new. We had class after which went well. Found out my teacher thinks ghetto things in his original portegese language, inappropriate things in Spanish and silly funny things in English Haha. Lunch was cheeseburgers and pizza and i had ice cream lol I'm so healthy. Then had a member trc with someone who was real and not a paid worker and that went really well just talked with a guy named brother Pier who has served like 6 18 month missions with his wife which was super cool to hear. Then had afternoon class which went well then fried chicken and potatoes for dinner with more ice cream followed by exercise night. Good day overall so excited to email people and talk to my fam tomorrow and go to the temple!

If you got this far, thanks for reading. Sorry not commas or caps in my writing. That would take too long. ;)
